Preserved Rose Glass Domes: Caribbean Blue, Golden Yellow or Smoky Pink?
A fresh bouquet is lovely for about a week. A preserved rose glass dome stays lovely for one to three years, with no watering at all.
Three of our best-selling glass domes at SKfleur share the same heart-handle dome, the same warm lights and the same $70 price. That leaves one real decision: colour. This guide looks at each dome up close, what it says, and who it suits.
What goes into every preserved rose glass dome?
Each dome holds one real rose, preserved after harvest so it keeps its shape, its colour and its soft petals. Around it, the build is the same across all three designs.
One preserved rose. A single full bloom sits at the top, where the eye lands first.
A bed of preserved hydrangeas. Two tones of hydrangea fill the base, with small green accents tucked beside the rose.
A clear glass dome with a heart handle. The glass keeps dust off the petals, and the heart-shaped handle lets you lift it cleanly.
A wooden base with warm LED lights. Switch them on in the evening and the dome doubles as a soft night light.
Handcrafted in Singapore. Our floral artisans arrange each dome by hand, so petals and shades vary slightly from piece to piece.
Caribbean Blue: calm, cool and a little unexpected
The Caribbean Blue dome is for the person who would rather look at the sea than at a dozen red roses. The rose is a vivid blue-green, close to turquoise. It rests on baby-blue and white hydrangeas, with soft green accents on either side.
Roses do not grow in this colour, so a blue rose always reads as something rare. The cool palette also makes it our easiest pick for anyone who finds pink too sweet.
Give it for a birthday or an anniversary, or keep it on a desk or bedside table where a calm colour is welcome.
Golden Yellow: sunshine that stays
Yellow roses stand for joy, friendship and new beginnings, which makes this the most versatile dome of the three. You can give it to a friend, a parent or a colleague without it reading as romantic.
A golden yellow rose sits above lime-green and cream hydrangeas, with darker green accents for contrast. With the lights on, the whole arrangement turns the colour of late-afternoon sun.
Give it for a graduation, a get-well-soon wish, a friend's birthday, or simply to brighten someone's week.
Smoky Pink: quiet, vintage romance
Smoky Pink is pink for people who do not like bright pink. The rose is a muted, dusty shade, set among hydrangeas in soft blush-beige and grey-blue.
The palette is gentle, closer to an old photograph than a Valentine's card. It sits easily beside wood, linen and neutral walls, so it rarely clashes with a room.
Give it for an anniversary or a birthday, or on the days you want to say "I appreciate you" without a speech.
Which dome should you choose?
All three cost $70, so choose by the person rather than the budget.
Dome | Rose | Hydrangeas | Mood | Give it for |
Turquoise blue | Baby blue and white | Calm and cool | Birthdays, anniversaries, anyone who prefers blue to red or pink
Golden yellow | Lime green and cream | Bright and cheerful | Graduations, get-well wishes, friends' birthdays
Dusty, muted pink | Blush-beige and grey-blue | Soft and vintage | Anniversaries, birthdays, thank-yous |
Still unsure? Picture where the dome will sit. Blue calms a busy desk, yellow lifts a plain shelf, and smoky pink blends into a bedroom.
Caring for your dome in Singapore
A preserved rose needs no water and keeps its colour and shape for one to three years. In our climate, the two things to guard against are sun and humidity.
Keep it out of direct sunlight. Strong sun fades preserved petals, so a shelf away from the window is better than a sill.
Keep it dry. Avoid bathrooms, the kitchen stove and open windows on rainy days.
Never water it. Moisture spoils the texture and the colour of the petals.
Leave the dome on. The glass is what keeps dust and damp air off the flowers. Wipe the outside with a dry, soft cloth.
